As a new member of the College, we will do our best to make your transition into our technological environment as smooth as
possible. While our site is filled with useful computing information, this page is designed to assist you in setting up
your computing essentials. To ensure that everything goes smoothly, we encourage you to call us to schedule an appointment
for us to go over your computing information.

To get started you will need to have the following:
- An active HR record
- AlbanyID Number
- PIN
Once your record appears in HR, the following day you will be generated a PIN. You may also receive a PIN letter in the mail.
If you have a record re-activated, your PIN and AlbanyID number are available for immediate use. The AlbanyID
is the same as an EmployeeID number and is used in place of Social Security Number here on campus.
For new employees who do not have an active record, there is an expedited process in which basic information
can be submitted. For directions in regards to this process, please see:

With an active HR record, you can access to your PIN to set passwords and access your AlbanyID.
If you have not already received your PIN via a letter in the mail you can call the ITS Help Desk at (518) 442-3700.
Once you have your AlbanyID and PIN you can then do the following:
- Reset your Unix Password
- Activate your Unix mailbox and setup a mail alias
- Request a Network Account

Network Logon Account
In order to logon to any of the networked machines on campus, to access any office, lab, or research shares, and to have your personal network space allocated, you will need to request a network account. You or someone from your department can make this request by phone (518)442-2651 or via email cascomp@albany.edu.
Once your account is ready we will contact you to let you know what the temporary password is. Upon log in you will be required to change this password.
