Personal Equipment

CAS Computing cannot support privately owned equipment whether used on campus or off.  Faculty and staff can use personally owned equipment on campus and connect it to the network by using DHCP.  DHCP automatically assigns a valid network address so a computer can connect to the network.  Faculty and staff can also register student owned equipment for DHCP if they choose.  Faculty, staff and students can also connect to the network by using UAlbany's wireless network. 

Privately owned equipment will not be added to the College's LAN.  Network shares can be mapped manually.  For directions on how to manually map a drive, please look at our FAQ(Frequently Asked Questions).
