Server Downtime and Maintenance
It is occasionally necessary to bring the
network file servers down to perform maintenance. This
will affect access to network shares (N drive,
O drive, R drive) and network printers. Most
often, this is due to patches for the operating
system which are put out by Microsoft. Patches
are available as often as once a month. Hackers
exploit the information about the patches
provided by Microsoft to write worms and trojans
making it extremely important to apply them
as soon as possible. CAS Computing makes every
attempt to give 24 hour notice of any server
downtime. Information will be posted on our
alerts web page regarding upcoming down times. An
email will also be sent to all faculty and
staff in the College. If you are not receiving
these notices, email cascomp@albany.edu
and we will add you to our distribution list.
ITS maintains the email servers, WebCT, IAS,
MyUAlbany and many other services.
